Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity Can’t Quite Erase 8-Run Deficit In Loss To Westside
Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity fought back after falling down by eight runs in the fifth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in an 8-6 defeat to Westside on Friday. Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity scored six runs in the failed comeback on a by Cole Simpson in the sixth, a home run by Ben Huber in the sixth, a single by Collin Bunch in the seventh, and a groundout by Clay Martin in the seventh.
Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity couldn’t keep up with Westside early in the game. Westside scored on a fielder’s choice by Jordan Gibert and a groundout in the first inning.
Westside captured the lead in the first inning. Gibert hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.
Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity scored three runs in the seventh inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Collin Bunch and a groundout by Clay Martin.
Westside scored four runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Westside came thanks to a home run by Gibert and a home run by Hunter Marchbanks.
Gil Senn earned the win for Westside. He went five innings, surrendering zero runs, one hit, and striking out five. Tyler Pearson threw one inning, as three relievers helped Westside finish off the victory. Drake McConnell took the loss for Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity. He pitched two innings, giving up two runs, two hits, striking out two, and walking zero.
Home runs for Westside came when Marchbanks homered in the fourth and fifth innings and Gibert homered in the fourth inning.
Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity collected seven hits. Hayden Fuhr and Bunch each collected multiple hits for Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity. Bunch and Fuhr all had two hits to lead Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity.
Westside had 11 hits in the game. Trevor Scarborough, Marchbanks, and Will Langston each collected multiple hits for Westside. Westside was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Langston made the most plays with eight.
