Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity Can’t Catch Up To Eastside
Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 7-5 loss to Eastside on Wednesday. Eastside scored on a fielder’s choice by Hunter Garlington in the first inning, a double by Wyatt Spurrier in the first inning, and a walk by Tank Harrison in the second inning.
Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity lost despite out-hitting Eastside 12 to eight.
Eastside got on the board in the first inning when Cole Simpson induced Garlington to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity put up three runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught by Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity was led by Peyton Hawkins, Justin Cintron, and Hayden Fuhr, all driving in runs in the frame.
Cody Coffey led the Eastside to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He went five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking one. Noah Mitchell and Clayton Motsinger entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Mitchell recorded the last five outs to earn the save for Eastside.
Simpson took the loss for Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity. He lasted five innings, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out five.
Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity saw the ball well today, racking up 12 hits in the game. Drake McConnell, Fuhr, and Ben Huber all managed multiple hits for Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity. McConnell went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Pendleton Bulldogs Varsity in hits.
Eastside racked up eight hits on the day. Joseph Mershon and Harrison all collected multiple hits for Eastside. Eastside tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Steve Wagner led the way with two.
